PART TWO: Iconic Stars Of The Screen Post-1970

The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions has played host to a number of iconic movie and television cars from some of the best blockbuster films and hit television series in popular culture. So many iconic cars have crossed the world-famous auction block, we had to split the list in two. (Click here for Part One).

Here are some of the greatest movie and television cars in Hollywood history with model years from 1970 to present that have crossed the Barrett-Jackson auction block:

LAS VEGAS 2021 – 1994 TOYOTA SUPRA — “FAST & FURIOUS” MOVIE CAR – SOLD! $550,000
Pictured above, this Supra was driven by actor Paul Walker in the first entry in the “Fast Saga,” this car was used for multiple interior and exterior shots during the filming of 2001’s “The Fast and the Furious” and 2003’s “2 Fast 2 Furious,” according to the extensive documentation that accompanies the car and a Certificate of Authenticity.

ORANGE COUNTY 2010 – 1970 PLYMOUTH ROAD RUNNER CUSTOM 2-DOOR HARDTOP “THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT” – SOLD! $187,000
A well-known car amongst Pro-Touring enthusiasts, this 528 HEMI-powered 1970 Road Runner custom known as “Hammer” went on to make an appearance at the end of “The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift.”

NORTHEAST 2018 – 1970 DODGE CORONET SUPER BEE “25TH HOUR” – SOLD! $53,900
This iconic “25th Hour” Dodge Super Bee was driven by Edward Norton in Spike Lee’s award-winning movie of 2002.

SCOTTSDALE 2014 – 1970 PLYMOUTH BARRACUDA HOT WHEELS “SNAKE” FUNNY CAR WITH 1967 DODGE D-700 HOT WHEELS “SNAKE” RAMP TRUCK AND 1972 PLYMOUTH DUSTER HOT WHEELS “MONGOOSE” FUNNY CAR WITH 1967 DODGE D-700 HOT WHEELS “MONGOOSE” RAMP TRUCK – SOLD! $247,500
Original restoration of the only remaining Mattel Hot Wheels 1970 Plymouth Barracuda Funny Car made famous during the “Snake vs. Mongoose” match racing promotion. Built to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Mattel Hot Wheels “Snake vs. Mongoose” promotional campaign as a show car.

SCOTTSDALE 2022 – 1976 AMC PACER “WAYNE’S WORLD” – SOLD! $71,500
This is the original 1976 AMC Pacer used in the iconic film “Wayne’s World.” Modifications made for the film included Baby Blue paint over the original yellow exterior and brown interior, a hole was drilled in the roof for the famous licorice dispenser, flame decals were added, among other things.

SCOTTSDALE 2016 – 1977 PONTIAC FIREBIRD TRANS AM “SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT” PROMO CAR – SOLD! $550,000
This 1977 Universal Studios Promo Bandit Trans Am is from the movie “Smokey and the Bandit.” The car was used by Universal Studios traveling to promote the movie.

SCOTTSDALE 2019 – 1978 PONTIAC FIREBIRD FORMULA “THE ROCKFORD FILES” – SOLD! $115,500
This was one of three Firebird Formulas provided by Pontiac Motor Division to the TV show “The Rockford Files,” and was used from 1978 until the series ended in 1980.

HOUSTON 2021 – 1979 PORSCHE 928 — “RISKY BUSINESS” MOVIE CAR – SOLD! $1,980,000
Hero car from Paul Brickman’s 1983 film “Risky Business.” It is one of three cars driven on set, and one of two cars used during the film’s signature chase scene that culminated in Tom Cruise, looking straight into the camera, declaring the German carmaker’s slogan, “Porsche. There is no substitute.”

LAS VEGAS 2022 – 1981 DELOREAN DMC-12 “MR. FUSION TIME MACHINE” RE-CREATION – SOLD! $170,500
This 1981 DeLorean has been meticulously transformed into an accurate re-creation of the “Mr. Fusion Time Machine” as portrayed in the blockbuster movie franchise “Back to the Future.”

SCOTTSDALE 2017 – 1986 FERRARI TESTAROSSA “MIAMI VICE CAR” – SOLD! $151,800
Crocket and Tubb’s iconic Ferrari serial number 63631, this 1986 Ferrari Testarossa is possibly the most famous Ferrari in popular culture as the “Miami Vice” hero car.

SCOTTSDALE 2022 – 1987 BUICK GRAND NATIONAL “FAST & FURIOUS” – SOLD! $60,500
Presented as a 1987 Buick Grand National Re-creation, this car was used in the movie “Fast and Furious Four” and was driven by Vin Diesel. One of two remaining movie cars after production ended.

SCOTTSDALE 2016 – 1992 PETERBILT 379 “TRANSFORMERS OPTIMUS PRIME” STUNT TRUCK – SOLD! $121,000
When the film’s production designer showed Michael Bay a photo of the enormous tractor trailer, the director was immediately taken by the lines and size of the truck. This vehicle is one of the tractors used as a picture and stunt vehicle.

SCOTTSDALE 2020 – 1992 DODGE STEALTH R/T RE-CREATION RACE CAR “LIGHTNING MCQUEEN” – SOLD! $15,400
Custom-built “Lightning McQueen” Re-creation from the Disney Pixar movie “Cars,” built on a 1992 Dodge Stealth chassis.

SCOTTSDALE 2020 – 2003 FORD ECONOLINE CUSTOM VAN “SHAGGIN’ WAGON” – SOLD! $22,550
A re-creation of the Mutt Cutts van from the 1994 movie “Dumb and Dumber” starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels.

SCOTTSDALE 2014 – 2006 MARINE TECHNOLOGY INC 39RP “MIAMI VICE” BOAT – SOLD! $283,800
“MOJO” is the authentic “Miami Vice” movie boat. The boat was used by Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx in the movie “Miami Vice.”

SCOTTSDALE 2019 – BUMBLEBEE TRANSFORMERS – SOLD! $125,000
Bumblebee Camaros as seen in the “Transformers” movies — the original Camaro Bumblebee (Lot #3009) as seen in the first “Transformers” in 2007 and then modified for the follow-up movie, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen;” the 2010 Camaro (Lot #3009.1) as seen in “Transformers: Dark of the Moon;” the 2013 Camaro (Lot #3009.2) as seen in “Transformers: Age of Extinction;” and the 2016 Camaro (Lot #3009.3) as seen in “Transformers: The Last Knight.”

PALM BEACH 2014 – 2013 FORD MUSTANG FASTBACK “NEED FOR SPEED” – SOLD! $300,000
Capitalizing on the runaway success of the “Need for Speed” video game franchise, this heavily customized Mustang sold at No Reserve for charity, with proceeds benefitting the Henry Ford Health System.
