Williamsburg man dead on the scene after tree branch falls on car

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) — A male in Williamsburg died soon after a tree branch fell on his car whilst he was driving Wednesday afternoon.

Officials say crews from the Williamsburg Fireplace Office responded to the incident all around 3:50 p.m. Wednesday on Jamestown Highway close to the intersection with Bayberry Lane.

Persons who stay on Bayberry Lane explained to us they heard a loud “snap” but did not feel considerably of it.

A preliminary investigation of the incident disclosed that the 2018 Chevy Malibu was touring northeast on Jamestown Road when a tree department fell on the car or truck.

City crews informed 10 On Your Side’s Michelle Wolf the limb possible snapped owing to strong winds.

The driver, identified as 42-year-outdated Hakeem Conway, was pronounced useless at the scene. A passenger inside of the vehicle sustained small accidents and was taken to a area healthcare facility for additional treatment.

The Nationwide Climate Provider claimed high winds and lightning in the place at the time of the incident. The felled tree department is probably temperature-relevant, officers say. The incident continues to be underneath investigation.

Officials say Jamestown Road among John Tyler Lane and Mill Neck Road will be shut by Thursday morning as crews take away the section of the tree that is still standing.
