Indian cricketer Surya Kumar Yadav is known for his swashbuckling knocks and prolific run-getting but there’s one more aspect about him that few people know about. He’s one of the biggest car nuts in the Indian cricket team, next to perhaps only Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. While Dhoni has an entire museum dedicated to his vehicles, Surya Kumar Yadav is more hands-on.
He owns a detailing studio in Mumbai. Called ‘The Detailing Studio’, this high-end car polish and cleaning outfit is co-owned by the cricketer. Surya Kumar Yadav recently bought a customized Mercedes Benz GLS 400d, and this luxury SUV was detailed by the The Detailing Studio. LLumar Valor PPF kit was applied across the body while the windows got clear heat-rejection film. The windscreen and sunroof got their own protection from Stek DYNOflex.
A note about the Mercedes Benz GLS 400d that Surya Kumar Yadav has just purchased
The GLS is Mercedes Benz’s biggest and most luxurious SUVs this side of the Maybach range. The GLS is called the S-Class of SUVs thanks to its stately looks, supremely comfortable and luxurious interiors, and of course strong performance. The GLS 400d trim costs Rs. 1.4 crore, on-road Mumbai. It’s powered by a a 2.9-litre twin-turbo inline-six-cylinder diesel engine that makes 330 Bhp of peak power and 700 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired to a 48V mild-hybrid system that aids fuel efficiency and cuts down on tail pipe emissions.

A 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission comes standard along with a four wheel drive layout. Despite its massive size, the GLS 400d is a very quick SUV – the 0-100 Kph sprint comes up in just 6.3 seconds while top speed is a heady 238 Kmph. The four wheel drive layout ensures that the GLS 400d is not just quick but extremely capable off the road. However, very few would actually be taking such an expensive luxury SUV mud-plugging. The GLS 400d that Surya Kumar Yadav owns has a slew of custom bits.
Design highlights that stand out on the cricketer’s customized Mercedes Benz GLS 400d include the Panamericana front grille with vertical slats and AMG-inspired front and rear bumpers. Steel finish for the front lip spoiler, lower air intake, side steps, side window surrounds, roof rails and front bumper strip is another classy touch while the grille slats and tailgate strip across the boot lid get a shiny chrome finish. Other minor but notable design changes include high gloss black surrounds for the front intake, body-coloured door mirror arms, a matte black base for the rear diffuser, a shiny chrome finish for the main diffuser plate and a new set of 23-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels similar to those on the Maybach GLS 600.
Surya Kumar Yadav’s other ride is a custom-built Nissan 1-Ton
Like MS Dhoni, Surya Kumar Yadav has a custom-built Nissan 1-Ton pick up truck. The 1-ton Nissan pick up truck gets 35-inch Rocktrak tubeless off-road spec tyres, steel wheels with neon green paint scheme for the hub caps and wing mirrors with integrated side cameras that support the 360-degree parking function of the vehicle. The Nissan 1-ton pick up truck is powered by a 3.9-litre six-cylinder diesel engine, which produced a maximum power output of 110 bhp and a maximum torque output of 264 Nm. It came with a 3-speed manual gearbox and four-wheel drive as standard.
