Woman drives wrong way on Thruway, intentionally crashing head-on into truck, police say

Whitestown, N.Y. — A 40-12 months-previous woman took a U-flip on the Thruway around Utica in purchase to generate against visitors and deliberately crash into a truck, troopers said.

About 8:30 p.m. Monday, the lady from Cazenovia was driving west on the Thruway in her 2011 Toyota Sienna in Whitestown, according to a news release from Point out Law enforcement.

The woman took a U-flip in the center of the westbound lanes and started driving in the erroneous way, troopers said.

While touring east in the westbound lanes, the woman deliberately drove her minivan head-on into a 2015 Freightliner box truck, troopers claimed.

The driver of the box truck, Ugur Baran, was unable to prevent the crash, they claimed. The 41-calendar year-outdated gentleman was not wounded.

Following the incident, the female bought out of her car or truck and climbed more than the basic safety barrier of the Thruway overpass over Main Avenue in Whitestown, troopers reported.

Troopers were being at some point ready to location her in custody, they reported. She was brought to St. Elizabeth’s Medical center due to small injuries sustained in the crash.

She was also admitted for a mental overall health evaluation, troopers stated.

The lady was issued many vehicle and targeted visitors violations.

The crash is still beneath investigation and legal rates are pending, they explained.

The crash shut down the westbound lanes of the Thruway between Exit 31(Utica) and Exit 32 (Rome) at about 8:40 p.m., in accordance to the point out Thruway Authority. All lanes were reopened by 10:45 p.m.
